I have also noticed if I go out and have a late night this occurs. I don't seem to get this pain during the day. I am otherwise healthy. Thanks Emily

question:I am a massage therapist and during a session afew days ago I felt and heard 2 loud pops in my wrist. Now I have pain in my forearm whenever I move it and a deep bruised feeling in the center on the inside of my forearm. Could it be a serious injury and should I go to the doctors?
answer:Hi, You seemed to have sprained your wrist by possibly by a heavy massage session. Please ice it. use a compression bandage and take pain medications when necessary. It will be better to elevate your hand above the heart level to avoid swelling. Mild to moderate sprains respond to this method and you will get well soon after some wrist exercises. If not better even after a week then there could be tear of the wrist ligaments which need an MRI and treatment according to the situation. Hope I have answered your query. question:have two situations. My first situation is my knee. At random times my knee will lock up and I have to pop it so I can go on with what I m doing. My knee also hurts when I m sitting awkwardly, or doing something physical. Also whenever I bend my knees, they will pop. My second situation is the my left ankle hurts. I always kinda hurt it when I walk somehow. Even if I don t it still hurts. At night is when it hurts the most. When I lay down in bed, and hang my leg off my bed, and relax, I will get this really bad pain. If it helps.. I m a 13 year girl. Don t do sports often, but do once in a while. I also broke my ankle when I was 7.
answer:Hi, You seem to have damaged the cartilage in the knee which causes pain and swelling. This also can lock the knee at times which sometimes can be released by popping it. This needs to be diagnosed by an MRI and treated accordingly. Meanwhile, you need to avoid knee strain- squatting climbing more than a flight of stairs. You could exercise the knee muscles to keep the knee stable and strong. The ankle pain could be related to the fracture you had with an untreated ligament injury. This needs to be checked out too by an MRI. Please use an elastic ankle strapping during the day till you complete the investigations. Hope I have answered your query. question:I recently had a mediastinal gastroc tear in my left leg calf. It got so well so quickly that I forgot it was injured. I was running with my dog about 9 days after and retore it on Monday. It is slowly recovering, but really painful. There isn t much online about it. I did see an ortho person the first time I injured it. He said there really isn t anything to be done but let it heal and use ice and heat alternately.
answer:Hello, Generally muscle tear heal by itself, You might require limb immobilization in a cast. Consult an orthopedic and get evaluated. question:I have a smashed both of my middle fingers , the tips are swollen & purple . Friends are telling me to drain the blood using a red hot paper clip...I want to just let it heal on its own . Will this cause a problem with blood clots ? Do I need to get the nails drained ? If I let it heal how long will it be swollen? Thank You .
answer:Hello, The symptoms are suggestive of a hematoma. It has to be drained, if it is kept there it might lead to an abscess and unwanted complications. Consult an orthopedic and get it drained. An X-ray is required to rule out a trivial fracture. An antibiotic cover is also required. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
