question:I was diagnosed with costochondritis in February and again a few months ago. I have the same pain again now. I was told when I was diagnosed with it the second time that once you've had it once, you're more likely to have it again, but how frequently can/does it affect people?
answer:Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Yes, costochondritis can recur in same patient. It is more likely too recur in patients with calcium and vitamin D3 deficiency. Usually in healthy individuals, costochondritis don't recur. But if you are having calcium and vitamin D3 deficiency then it can recur twice or thrice in a year. So in my opinion, you should first get done calcium and vitamin D3 levels and if deficiency then you will need supplements. Also follow these steps for better symptomatic relief and for prevention of recurrence. 1. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise. 2. Avoid movements causing pain. 3. Avoid bad postures in sleep. 4. Apply warm water pad on affected areas. Don't worry, you will be alright. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

answer:Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Metaspray is having mometasone. It is intranasal steroidal drug. It is very safe and devoid of side effects. So your anxiety is not due to this spray. In my opinion, you should consult psychiatrist and get done counselling sessions. Try to identify stressor in your life and start working on it's solution. You may need anxiolytic drugs like alprazolam, flunarizine, propranolol etc. Avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm. Don't worry, you will be alright. Hope I have solved your query. question:Since July, I have been experiencing what feels like a throbbing esophagus. I recently had a cardiac work up (stress and echo) and all is normal. Over 10 years ago I was DX with a spastic esophagus and treated with Protonix. I am seeing my primary next month. It feels like my esaphgus wants to bust of my chest. Do you know what it could be? Sometimes I cough when I breath deep. Thoughts?
answer:Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. In my opinion, you should definitely consult gastroenterologist and get done upper GI (gastrointestinal) scopy for the diagnosis. By your history and description, possibility of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). You are also having cough, this also favours reflux disease. Along with drugs, you should follow below mentioned lifestyle modifications for better symptomatic relief. 1. Avoid hot and spicy food. Avoid junk food. 2. Avoid stress and tension. 3. Avoid large meals, instead take frequent small meals. 4. Go for walking after meals. 5. Keep 2-3 pillows under head in bed. Don't worry, you will be alright with all these. question:I have been getting a squeezing feeling in both the left and right side of my chest. On both sides, the pain/pressure is on the side of my body, curving around to my back. It is harder to breath with the pain. Any ideas what may be causing this? I am 5' 11" at 235 lbs female.
answer:Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Most common causes for chest tightness, heaviness, pressure are stress and anxiety. But better to rule out heart related diseases first because they can't also cause similar chest tightness and pressure. So get done ecg and 2d echo. If both these are normal then no need to worry for heart diseases. Sometimes, uncontrolled stress and anxiety can cause similar symptoms. So consult psychiatrist and get done counselling sessions. Try to identify stressor in your life and start working on it's solution. You may need anxiolytic drugs too. Don't worry, you will be alright bit first rule out heart diseases. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
