question:i have a swollen knee joint after haveing had an arthroscopy nearly 8 weeks ago.The menial meniscus was repaired and I believe loose tissue was cleaned out: I also have a bad sprain on the collateral ligament ,the injury occured on 25-2 12 a large dog ran into me.The swelling is preventing me from fully being able to bend the knee and restricts my ability to walk properly etc.Have you any sugestions for this condition?
answer:Hello, As you underwent an arthroscopy, did you do exercises post the surgery? If not, I will advise you to undergo knee rehabilitation program post Arthroscopy. Swelling will be there due to irritation to the soft tissues. With simple knee exercises like static quadriceps and static hamstring, the strength will regain and remove the swelling. Knee range of motion will also improve. Do balance board training and also some squatting in low intensity will help regain knee functions. Hope I have answered your query. question:I am a figure skater and I fell a lot on my tailbone. My stomach had been hurting and I feel like I am going to throw up. I also feel pain in between my ribs. My back also hurts. Can you explain where the pain is coming from and what should I do about it?
answer:Hello, Possible symptoms of tail bone injury are: 1. Severe localized pain and tenderness may be felt in the tailbone area. 2. If the injury is traumatic, a bruise may be visible in this area. 3. The pain is generally worse when sitting for prolonged periods of time or with direct pressure to the tailbone area. 4. Bowel movements and straining are often painful. 5. Some women may experience pain during sexual intercourse. Your symptoms may not specific to the tail bone problem. It seems you may be having cervical or thoracic spondylosis with compressive neuropathy it seems. But until the examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Use tablet tramadol with paracetamol. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly. Hope I have answered your query. question:I have developed a strange throbbing, heavy sensation in my left leg from the knee down since 7 o clock this evening. I have pain in my knee, calf and ankle. My leg feels weak when I walk on it and I have a tingling sensation from inside almost a bit like pins and needles. There is no noticeable swelling or redness.
answer:Hello, As you have a sensory disturbance I will ask you if any other underlying condition is bothering like hypertension or diabetes. If so then we need to look for it. If not then try observing the skin if there is any discoloration, that may be the signs of the varicose veins. Need a proper ruling out of the same symptoms. If all of the above is not existing then u suspect this to be a nerve root entrapment in the lumbar spine. Taking up and x-ray or MRI will be guided to rule out any possible causes. With core stability, strengthening the spinal muscles and the lower limb muscles as a whole will improve the condition and reduce the symptoms. Hope I have answered your query. question:hello i m Anil im suffering from a stomach problem Dr has told me tht ur musle movement is not proper of stomach and given me tilpride rd and Morease SR tablets can u suggest me any exercise for stomach im confused whether to join gym or swimming plz help me
answer:Hello, As history appears to show there is a weakness of the muscles of the stomach. For stomach to have a proper function the abdominal muscles need to be strong to support the stomach. Now stomach muscles are soft tissue muscle and abdominal are skeletal muscles. Skeletal muscles are controlled by human desire and soft tissue are by the autonomous nervous system. The exercise which you need to do it - straight crunches for the upper abdomen. Later crunches for the side muscles of the abdomen. The procedure is simple. Lye down on the mat with crook lying position. Then lift the head and shoulder 2-4 inches off the floor and try going towards the knee. And the other one you should do later bending. This is one of the simplest forms to give support to the stomach muscles providing good strength. You can the videos online as well. Hope I have answered your query. question:The top of my left foot began hurting about 10 days ago. The pain wasn t constant. However it seems to be migrating up my leg. It hurts up above ankle now continuing across of foot. Hurts to walk. Clothing or bed covers, anything touching just tHe skin is painful. Any idea? Never had anything like this.
answer:Hello, As due to injury there will be a disturbance in the microvasculature capillaries leading to abnormal sensation to the skin. This is common thing. Trying out icing and elevation of the foot over a pillow will help the healing to occur. There is nothing sounding major here but still, if possible an x-ray will be good to rule out any bony injuries. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. question:I was diagnosed with 4 degenerated cervical discs a year ago, two of them severe. Am experiencing numbness at base of skull when I lie down for bed, neck pain, infrequent dizziness, a tingling in left forearm and hand, along with lower back pain mostly on the right side. Any suggestions?
answer:Hello, The degenerative disc disease is a condition where the water is lost from the intervertebral disc. Due to which there is degeneration, herniation, prolapse etc. During this , there will be a adjacent nerve root compression and the symptoms follow the course of the nerve. It occurs due to weakness of the paraspinal muscles of the spinal column. The disc degeneration can occur at any level from cervical to lumber. As you were diagnosed with Cervical disc degeneration at 4 levels I would like to know what are the services of them? Are they entering the canal and leading to parasis or paralysis of the muscles below the levels of injury. If not then it can still be treated conservatively. Using soft cervical collar and hot water fermentation will help reduce the spasm of the muscles and also will help stabilize the spinal column. Once the pain level falls below 6-7 in visual analogue pain scale of 0-10 then exercise can begin. Also physiotherapy modalities like Therapeutic ultrasound and TENS therapy will help reduce pain and inflammation. Once the muscles of the neck becomes strong the compression over the nerve can be released and the symptoms will reduce. Same has to be followed for the lower back. In my clinical practice of over 12 years, most cases with degenerative disc disease respond well to conservative therapy under a physiotherapist and combination of pain killers.
