question:I noticed my foot getting sore a little after lunch today. By the end of the work day the pain had grown increasingly worse and was sore to apply pressure. While driving home I could feel my foot swelling up and pain continued. After getting home i removed my shoe and the top of my foot and my toes were swollen and discolored but not to the bruising color, and felt numbness in my middle two toes. I don t recall hitting my foot on anything or injuring it at any particular time. DEbating on going to the ER tonight or just seeing if icing and some pain relievers will help.
answer:Hello,Your symptoms are suggestive of deep vein thrombosis (a blood clot in the leg). For this reason, I would recommend going to the ER for a physical exam, a Doppler ultrasound of the leg vessels and some blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, ESR, D dimmer plasma levels). Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist

question:for a few days i had like a tightening in the tendons on my left hand 3rd and little fingers. thats gone but i am left with a mild tingling in my hand and an apparent loss in strength in it. i do have arithmia and am on warferin. no pains anywhere and non in my arm or hand. just a sort of vaugh feeling in it. should i worry.
answer:Hi,Suggestive of cubital tunnel syndrome. Based on the history you seem to be suffering from this condition due compression of the nerve behind the inside part of the elbow.I advise you to use an albow splint at night, elbow pads for proper support of the elbow, avoid repetitive flexion at the left elbow. Over-the-counter anti-inflammatory drugs such as aceclofenac would useful in relieving the pain. If pain does not subside or you do not get improvement you must consult a neurologist for further clinical assessment and certain tests such as electromyography and nerve conduction studies to confirm the diagnosis.Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician

answer:Hello,Slurred speech is indicative of nervous system disorder (neuropathy). Other conditions can be brain injury, brain tumor, weakness of facial muscles or nerve damage, stoke, Multiple Sclerosis, etc. Since you have arthritis, follow your doctors prescription & treatment. Avoid sedentary life, stay active. Do exercises & take vitamin E supplements so that your joints stay lubricated. For slurring of speech you are suggested not to neglect but get clinically examined by a Neurologist & get Nerve conduction tests, blood tests, imaging tests & nerve biopsy if needed. Take vitamin B6, B12 rich food or supplements. Get treated at the earliest.Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
