question:One of our employees in UAE is suffering from TB Adenitis. She was sent to her home country for treatment. She has now presented a certificate from a pulmonologist stating that the site is non infectious and non communicable after medications for 2 weeks...If the lungs are clear, can we risk bringing her back? Will it be transmitted through air to others?
answer:Hi thanks for asking question.TB is spread by aerosol route through air during infective stage of TB.Mostly without treatment in initially 2 to 3 week it is highly infectious ,but with starting anti TB treatment chances are less because these drugs are highly effective in killing bacteria.Even now chest is also clear of that employee. And that employee has taken drug for 2 week. Also pulmonologist give him non infectious certificate. So yes that employee can be taken back for work,And TB can infect you only if you have low immunity. So try to maintain your immunity with proper diet.Encourage that employee for complete drug therapy to completely cure TB.I hope i have solve your query.
question:Bump on the left side of scrotum, about the size of a quarter It has been there for a few months. It has burst and constantly leaks clear/yellow pus. it is now forming new small holes to leak from.I can actually feel a long "sack" under the scrotum which is quite tender. The skin is darker there than anywhere else. The "lump" is not attached to my testicles
answer:Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. What problems you are facing of bump on the left side of the scrotum with pus leaking from it could be an infected furruncle or boil. Kindly wash the area with mild antiseptic solution like Povidine. After drying, kindly apply Neomycin cream in the lesion. You need to take oral antibiotic course of Amoxacillin with Clavulenic acid along with antiinflammatory-analgesic medication like Ibuprofen. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
question:I've had a low grade fever for 12 days now. It ranges between 98.8 and 99.6. I've been waking up to damp clothes- not all over, but in certain areas where there is skin on skin contact and on my back where my skin touches the bed. I've heard that Lymphoma can cause these symptoms and am worried. I've been so nervous, that even though I feel like I'm hungry all the time, I can't seem to get an appetite. I have high energy levels despite the fact that I have not slept a whole night in the past 7 or 8 days straight. I recently started taking a new brith control pill. These symptoms started up eleven days after starting Loestrin.
answer:Hi thanks for asking question. You are talking about b symptoms of lymphoma. But in case of an tumour apart from fever there are also history of weight loss, anorexia etc.Your physical examination has to be done.If lymphoma like tumour then one of the lymph node in body might be enlarged like in cervical region, axillary or groin region which is non painful and for long duration. You can do your CBC examination if still doubt. You have least possibility of lymphoma on basis of fever only.fever might be because of drug.If still after few days you notice enlarge lymph node then go for CBC and consult doctor.I hope my suggestion will help you.Avoid stress. If problem in sleep for few day zolpidem like drug can be taken if no benefit despite exercise, night time heavy meal and milk.thanks.
question:Hello Dr. . I am having sinus problems from may this year, my Dr didn t give nothing as he believes is a virus.. but las 3 days I am at bed with strong cough thick phlegm, headache.. but the worse thing is an upper back pain that is the most insoportable.. because I can t have my back propped against nothing.. even a pillow.. is the 3rd day this pain doesn t relieve with panadol.. is this symptoms normal with a flu? or should I worry about this pain in my back?
answer:Hi thanks for asking question in Health care magic. The viral infection can lead to fever , headache and in general muscular pain like symptoms. The back pain can be part of viral infection or because of musculoskeletal pain. The improper sleep posture might cause back pain. The back pain can be because of muscular strain due to any cause like heavy exercise , during weight lifting etc.So just now treat your sinus infection symptomatically and maintain immunity with fruit and green leafy vegetables.Drink more water. If after 3 to 4 days no benefit and back pain worsening then further work up needed to rule out other causes of back pain.Just now consider it as muscular pain, and do enough rest.I hope my suggestion will help you.
question:My husband and I lived in a mold infested apartment for three years before we had it tested and found out what was causing all of our URI symptoms. The mold wasn't visible. Recently my husband developed atrial fibrillation during a surgey to remove fungus from his sinuses and orbital bone area. I recently had an experience (hospitalized for two days) of supra ventricular tachycardia. Neither of us has ever had any heart or blood pressure problems before. Upon examination both my husband and I were told we have "healty hearts". Could this have been from 3 years exposure to toxic molds specifically penicillium and aspergillus.
answer:Hello and thank you for your question.Only in severe cases of mold type infection would the heart be affected. However, there are some cases of aspergillus that have been associated with atrial fibrillation.Regards,Dr. Robinson
question:just diagnosed with genital herpes, i wanted to know how and when i am contagious.... what the best treatment and most effictive medication to take... i have no signs or symptoms at this time and have never had any.... is it true that it is only able to be transmitted when 'active'?
answer:HI, thanks for using healthcare magicNo, it can also be transmitted when there is no active infection present, this is called asymptomatic transmission. It is common. The use of anti viral medication would help to both reduce the frequency of the attacks and also reduce the chance of asymptomatic transmission.Normally when an acute attack is going to occur, you may feel discomfort in the area with an initial red appearance, this would be followed by the rash. The rash may be small fluid filled lesions that would then open and crust over. The entire attack is normally associated with pain.Eg of antiviral medication are valcyclovir or acyclovirI hope this helps
